Keeping It Simple

tumblr_mwcwdgUpJH1s8zgc6o1_500I am a self-proclaimed fitness magazine addict in remission.  Every trip to the grocery store included buying the latest fitness magazines off of the shelves.  I couldn’t wait to get home and flip through the crisp pages and read the latest in health, fitness and nutrition.  It was in these pages that I would often build my exercise routines, get smoothie ideas, and learned about the latest nutritional supplements.

After following this monthly routine (and expense) for a few years, I began to realize the same exercises were being recycled.  The fitness model doing the exercises had changed, the outfit had changed, and the sequence they were in differed, but it was the same.  I also noticed nutritional information contracted itself.  One magazine would support a certain fact that the other would argue against.  I also realized most of the supplements in the magazines were paid advertisements.  I’d also like to add that more than likely, the fitness model photographed in these paid advertisements, did not train on these products.  More than likely, they used products of different brands that were recommended by their trainer as they trained to compete.  Chances are they placed well in the a competition and were awarded endorsement contracts.  Put all of this together, and I was overwhelmed by so much contradictory information that I really didn’t know what to believe and what to ignore.  So I decided to keep it simple by eliminating the sources of my confusion.


Health and fitness is a BILLION dollar industry.  The REAL reason why it is so profitable is because no one wants to simple answer and that is:

Eat healthy and exercise.

Two simple measures that will change and save your life and they are easier said than done.  Instead, we want the easy way out.  We want diet food, magic pills, plastic surgery, cleanses and even fasts.  We want instant results because we  live in a instant gratifying society.  But we’re not willing to put in the work.

They say the truth shall set you free…if you want to change your life, you are the only one who can make it happen.  Life is all about choices.  You can choose to be unhappy with what you see in the mirror, or you can do something about it.  Eat healthy.  Train hard.
